Hi,

“We Take Furniture” started as concept business back in 2010 in the draughty eaves of the Georgian Tourist Hostel that I used to run. The “Great Recession” was at its height and the small delivery business I had also been running had collapsed. As a self-employed person I was not automatically entitled to social welfare. I was desperately trying to find a steady income.

One day on a job in Balbriggan a guy asked me to take away an old table and chairs that he had. He wanted me to take them to the recycling centre. I looked at them and suggested that I might restore them and sell them. He was delighted at the thought that they might get a new lease of life, as they had served his now grown up family well.

A couple of days later I had put them through my small workshop and transformed them into a beautiful set. I sold them quickly through the paper. That was the start of what became our second-hand furniture business.

Over time the workshop developed and I took on Sean who had previously been unemployed. Shortly after that came Jason. To date we have created three full time and three part-time jobs. We have also restored and sold several hundred pieces of furniture

This however is only made possible by the continued collection of older furniture, its restoration and onward sale. On behalf of the team I would like to thank you in advance for contacting us with your enquiry and your ongoing support to our small enterprise.
